ChangeBell privacy policy
Effective 22 October 2026 · version 0.2
ChangeBell is a Chrome extension that watches the parts of web pages you choose and alerts you when they change. It is made and run by Aleksey Ponomarev (Пономарев Алексей Юрьевич), an individual developer. Contact: nicerdicer2014@gmail.com.
The short version
- Your monitors, the page addresses you watch and the texts ChangeBell reads from pages stay in your Chrome profile. They are not sent to us.
- Only if you connect Telegram, each alert passes through our server on its way to your chat: the monitor name, the page address and a short change text (up to 300 characters), plus the language of the extension (English or Russian) for the “Open page” button. The server sends it to Telegram right away and does not keep it.
- Our server keeps a random installation ID, your Telegram chat ID (if you connected Telegram), your plan, the e-mail you gave when paying, your newsletter choice, and dates. Nothing else.
- We do not sell data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking.
What stays on your device
The list of monitors (names, page addresses, selected elements, conditions), the last text seen in each monitored element,
the history of checks and your settings are stored in chrome.storage.local in your Chrome profile.
ChangeBell opens the pages you chose from your own browser, with your normal cookies, so it can check pages you are signed in to.
ChangeBell never stores passwords, does not read pages you did not choose, and does not collect your browsing history.
What our server stores
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Random installation ID and a hash of a random installation secret, both created by the extension | To know which plan belongs to which installation, and that requests come from it | Until you ask us to delete it |
| Telegram chat ID | To deliver your alerts | Until you press “Disconnect Telegram”, send /stop to the bot, or block the bot |
| Plan (Free, Pro for a year, Pro lifetime) and its end date | To give you the features you paid for | Until you ask us to delete it |
| Payments: product, price, status, date | Accounting, refunds, tax | As long as tax law requires |
| E-mail address you entered on the payment page (received from the payment provider) | Receipts and support for your purchase; news only if you agreed | As long as the payment record |
| Your choice for “Send me product news and offers” and when you made it | To send news and offers only if you agreed | Until you change it |
| Dates: when the installation first contacted the server, when it was last active, which service messages were sent | To count active users and not send a message twice | Until you ask us to delete it |
Monitor names, page addresses and change texts are not stored on the server, not even in logs.
Telegram alerts
Telegram is off until you turn it on. When you press “Connect Telegram”, ChangeBell opens our bot with a one-time code; pressing Start in Telegram links your chat to your installation. For each alert, the extension sends to our server the monitor name, the page address and a short change text (up to 300 characters), and the language of the extension to label the “Open page” button. The server forwards this message to your chat through the Telegram Bot API and forgets it. Telegram stores the messages in your chat under the Telegram privacy policy.
Service messages and newsletter
If you paid for Pro and connected Telegram, the bot tells you 7 days before a yearly plan ends and on the day it ends. News and offers (for example, a discount to come back after your plan ended) are sent only if you ticked “Send me product news and offers”. It is off by default. Every such message has an “Unsubscribe” button; you can also untick the box in ChangeBell settings.
Payments
Payments are processed by Prodamus (prodamus.ru). We never see your card details. Prodamus tells our server that a payment succeeded, its amount and the e-mail you entered.
Server logs
The server runs on a VPS. Its reverse proxy keeps a short technical log of requests (IP address, time, path), which is overwritten as it grows. Request bodies, where alert texts travel, are never logged.
Who else receives data
- Telegram — the alert messages, if you connected Telegram.
- Prodamus — what you enter on the payment page.
Nobody else. We do not sell or share data for advertising, credit scoring or any purpose other than ChangeBell itself. The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices and rights
- Disconnect Telegram in ChangeBell settings or send /stop to the bot: the chat ID is deleted at once.
- Untick “Send me product news and offers” at any time.
- To get a copy of what the server holds about you, or to delete it, write to the e-mail above with your installation ID (ChangeBell settings, “Your installation ID”). Payment records required by tax law are kept for the period the law demands.
- Removing the extension deletes everything stored in your browser.
Children
ChangeBell is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change what data ChangeBell sends or stores, we will update this page and tell you in the extension before the new data flow starts.
